Innsbruck, April 2019: Sounds good – and not without reason: SALZBRENNER media equipped the Haus der Musik in Innsbruck with state-of-the-art audio and PA technology. Music, theatre, culture and education are at the heart of the institution which acts as a focal communication point for the cultural life of the Austrian city.

The Haus der Musik is located on the historic site of the former Stadtsaal, city hall building, the history of which began with the opening of a public entertainment venue in 1773. The Stadtsaal building was demolished in 2015 and the new building was opened in 2018 after three years of construction work.

The new building, which extends the neighbouring Tiroler Landestheater with a floor space of around 12,900 m², houses three halls: Studio Theatre, Large Hall and Small Hall. All halls are equipped with technology from the same manufacturer to enable redundant technology sharing. SALZBRENNER media installed the audio and PA technology as well as the video distribution system in all three halls.

Audio control centre

In combination with a Sennheiser microport wireless solution, the sound reinforcement system ensures the best possible sound: it was opted for a line array loudspeaker system from Kling&Freitag and active line loudspeakers from Fohhn in addition to the amplifiers and controllers. SALZBRENNER media was responsible for the installation of all elements. The full-service provider from Buttenheim was also responsible for installing the stage manager’s desk and the cue light signal system (both from SALZBRENNER media), the intercom system (RIEDEL), the monitoring system (Neumann) and the low-voltage switchgear (WAGO).

Connectivity and interfaces

“A special feature of the project was the interconnection of the entire audio and video systems of the three halls which can be used individually or together, depending on the event and requirements,” recalls Sebastiano Sessa, project manager at SALZBRENNER media. The technicians also benefited from their many years of experience in deploying venue connectivity when connecting the new stage manager system of the Studio Theatre to the existing installation at the Tiroler Landestheater.
