Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: With Measat Broadcast Network System Sdn Bhd, one of the leading Asian broadcasters has appointed SALZBRENNER STAGETEC Media Academy in Kuala Lumpur as consultants to support their switch from level-based loudness management to loudness metering based on the ITU 1770 standard for their Astro Pay-TV channels. “By switching to loudness metering and processing Measat aims to deliver a uniform, high-quality sound experience throughout all the Astro channels”, explains Jean-Paul Moerman, the MEDIAGROUP expert in loudness, who led a week of training and consultancy for the Astro engineers.
Since 2010 Astro has been equipped with NEXUS audio routing systems, AURUS and CRESCENDO consoles. The broadcaster has also added AURATUS and ON AIR 24 consoles since then. The STAGETEC audio networks offer native loudness metering as well as support for third-party-solutions.
“Jean-Paul’s expertise in loudness has provided us with deep insights. Astro now has an excellent base for the paradigm shift to loudness metering and control. We can now provide our customers with uniform and superior audio quality”, says Gautaman Ramasamy, Project Champion of the Astro Audio Committee.
The SALZBRENNER STAGETEC Media Academy, which was established in 2008 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, provides an extensive seminar program. The Media Academy’s mission is to enhance basic knowledge and to develop the professionals’ practical skills in their everyday jobs.
